The 2^nd Model Conference of the Parties

What is MCOP?

Model Conference of the Parties (MCOP) is an academic simulation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties 16 (COP16), which will be held this December in Cancun, Mexico. Students participating in MCOP 2010 shall debate on agendas related to climate change and create articles, thus receiving chances to improve their oral advocacy and diplomacy skills. The final article will be delivered to the British Council in the closing ceremony.

 

모의당사국총회란?

모의당사국총회는 전국의 우수한 중고등학생들이 모여 기후변화에 대한 안건으로 회의를 진행하고 합의문을 만들어 21세기의 리더들로서 국제 감각과 외교협상능력을 배우는 장입니다. 회의 준비와 토론을 통해 참가하는 학생들은 합의문을 만들고 다듬어 폐회식 때 영국문화원 측에 전달하게 됩니다. 회의의 전체적인 내용은 영어로 진행됩니다.

 

Benefits

Participants will attend a climate change workshop before the conference, in which they can learn about various issues about climate change and environment. During the conference, participating students will serve as delegates of a country or an organization, and will debate on climate change issues in respective committees. Through the demonstration of negotiations, participants can acquire a cosmopolitan outlook and enhance diplomatic skills to become global leaders of the 21^st century.

 

All participants who attend the workshop and the conference will receive certificates of participation from the British Council YCCA and the British Council Korea. Students who demonstrate commitment and excellence during the workshop and the conference will receive an award from the British Council YCCA and the British Council Korea.

 

Awardees: 1 Best Delegate, 1 Outstanding Delegate, 1 Honorable Mention per committee

 

참가특전

참가자들은 회의에 앞서 워크샵 참가를 통해 기후변화와 환경에 관련된 강연을 듣고 본 행사에서는 나라 또는 단체를 배정받은 고등학생 참가자가 각자의 위원회에서 주어진 주제에 대해 토론과 협상을 통해 합의문을 만들어 21세기의 리더로서 국제 감각과 외교협상능력을 겨룰 수 있는 기회를 가집니다.

 

워크샵 수료와 회의에 참가하는 학생들에게는 주한영국문화원 기후변화홍보대사와 주한영국문화원에서 수료증이 발급됩니다. 또한 워크샵과 회의를 통해 우수한 학생을 선발하여 각 위원회 별로 최우수상, 우수상, 장려상을 수여합니다.

③       As of March 2011, one who is expected to attend middle school or high school, or equivalent academic institutions

①     2010년 10월 현재 중학교, 고등학교 또는 이와 동등한 학력이 인정되는 교육기관에 재학중인 자

②     2010년 10월 현재 고등학교를 졸업하거나 이와 동등한 학력이 인정된 지 1년이 경과하지 않고 대학교 또는 이와 동등한 학력이 인정되는 교육기관에 재학 중이지 않은 자

③     2011년 3월 중학교, 고등학교 또는 이와 동등한 학력이 인정되는 교육기관에 진학 예정인 자
